Four people in critical condition at asake gig in Brixton

Eight people were injured, including four who are in a critical condition, after a crowd crush at a concert at the O2 Academy Brixton in London.

The Nigerian Afrobeats singer and songwriter Asake’s concert was cancelled just ten minutes after he appeared to perform.

Police were called to the venue in south London at about 9.35pm on Thursday after reports that a large number of people were attempting to force entry. They found a number of people with “injuries believed to have been caused by crushing”.

Of the eight people taken to hospital, four are still in a critical condition. Two more people were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The Metropolitan police launched an investigation into the unfortunate incident an “extremely distressing” incident.

Also known as Mr money, Asake in a statement on his Instagram account, said: “My heart is with those who were injured last night and caused any form of discomfort. I pray you get well soonest.”
