Kingzkid’s ‘Not For Clout’ Is The Definition of Modern Urban Gospel

Since the genre Urban Gospel became popular in Ghana, one name that has been on the lips of every lover is Kingskid.
From ‘I Got My Jesus On’ to ‘Too Much’ to ‘He go do for you and the list goes on and on, Kingskid has established himself as a household in Ghana and beyond.
Urban Gospel, a fusion of Hip Hop, Afrobeats, and HipLife with a gospel message has been the go-to genre for young Christians who would still want to jam to music.
Definitely, credit should go to other artists who have paid their dues so far to hold the flag of the genre i.e Regardless, Preachers, E-Rock et al.
However, the genre has been taken over by Nigerian artists as their tunes continue to penetrate the local market.
Hence, seeing someone like Kingskid bounce back with back-to-back huge songs is refreshing.
Five months ago, he gave us ‘Wadom’ ft 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year, Joe Mettle.
The recent release, ‘Not For The Clout’ is the epitome of Urban Gospel.
Featuring the man with whom they made a monster in ‘I Got My Jesus On’, Regardless, the duo once again created magic.
A proper hip-hop tune that carries the gospel message is something young Christians who enjoy Hip-hop would want to listen to all day.
The lyrics are so deep and touching, Kingskid basically saying he does not serve his Lord for earthly titles but for Heavenly gains while the grace of God works for him.

CHORUS
Not for the Clout,
I do ma ish for the Crowns
Grace is my only reality
I’ma rely on it until the death of me
Kingzkid Verse
I don’t pay for crowns mehn I earn it
Who the cup fits let them wear it
I eat the scriptures for breakfast
I do NOT chase earthly pleasures
Outta your league like I’m BREXIT
WAIT A MINUTE
Who do you know that’s got grace like the way I do
I no dey payola but they play my music more than the dudes who do
I’m just tryna correct notions
Grace is a never ended ocean
Put the word of God in motion
CHORUS
Not for the Clout,
I do ma ish for the Crowns
Grace is my only reality
I’ma rely on it until the death of me
Regardless’ Verse
They said I’ve been gone for way too long I don lost it
when it’s yours you can’t play fast forward rewind and pause it
I move on different type of frequency so
Hear ye hear ye
While y’all chatting we making decrees
This garment on me got me dripping saucy
Lemme fix my crown
We blowing notes like a trumpeter
Tryna pay tithe in a duffel bag
So step aside with your Fanny pack
Whatever I give God, he double that
No Ponzi
We don’t dance
We just vossi bop, through every storm we see
Moment of truth, y’all already know
CHORUS
Not for the Clout,
I do ma ish for the Crowns
Grace is my only reality
I’ma rely on it until the death of me
