Opinion: Hazard’s Departure, Smile Because It Happened

Eden hazard has got the whole Chelsea family in a pool of different emotions as they see their talisman heading down to the Los blancos giants in Spain.

Hazard joined Chelsea from Lille in 2012 on a reported €32m move to the bridge. His time at Chelsea has seen Stamford Bridge being referred by many as the “garden of eden”. This alone paints a clear and lucid picture of the impact he had on the club since joining them as a young talented player from the French league. Today Chelsea fans aren’t necessarily sad about his departure but are smiling about the fact that they enjoyed having this gem for the last 7 years.

Since the start of the 2012-13 campaign, Hazard has been directly involved in 191 goals in 352 appearances; 94 more than any other Chelsea player in this period. Hazard’s days at Chelsea weren’t all rosy ah he had some bad very poor seasons mixed with injuries and a whole lot if brouhaha with regards to his relationship with the then coach Jose Mourinho.

Sadly Eden ended the 15/16 Pl season with a total of 4 goals and 3 assists which wasn’t greeted well by the fans as a player of his caliber shouldn’t have such stats. Hazards best season was saved for his last as the player broke his personal record for both goals and assists with a total of 16 goals and 15 assists contributing a stunning 31 goals in Sarri’s maiden Premier League campaign helping the Italian to secure a Champions League spot for the blues and crowned it up with the winning of the Europa league.

Hazard leaves Chelsea with six major trophies thus two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, a League Cup and two Europa Leagues. He now joins his idol Zidane and his dream club Real Madrid and leaves Chelsea as a legend and the headache of finding a replacement as they’ve been hit with a transfer ban.
It’s sad to see him leave but in the heart of the Chelsea family eden would always be seen as one of their own and always welcomed back to the bridge.
