Leader of the Uptown Energy Music Group, Yaa Pono has mentioned that only clever and smart musicians can do profane songs.
Yaa Pono who is noted for profane and foul language in his music has defended his decision to choose that style by stating that he does that because he is clever. Speaking to Andy Dosty on the Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM on Thursday morning, Tema-based comic rapper reiterated that profane songs are not done by just normal artists but those are clever and can play with it.
Profane songs are for clever artistes and I do them because they are good – he stated
When drawn on his beef with dance-hall artist Shatta Wale, Yaa Pono jabbed his counterpart by stating that the diss song released by the Dancehall King was not deep enough. Ponobiom as he is affectionately called mentioned that he expected deep and thought-provoking lyrics from his colleague as he did with ‘Gbee Naabu’ but he got disappointed with the song released by Shatta.
I think he did the song but when I listened to the song, I was happy that I could hear something really great. I’m not concerned about the piece but the art because my piece was great but when i listened to his own, It wasn’t dope.
Yaa Pono also confirmed that he will be performing at this year’s Rapperholic Concert on 25th December.
